My hero stopped a shameful part in our American history. In the past, we used to have slavery. “Slavery is something horrible, and it should not spread.” Said Abraham Lincoln. This is also how I feel about slavery.

Abraham Lincoln was born on February 12, 1809. He was raised in Hardin county, in a 1 room house. Knowing this, we can conclude that Abraham Lincoln was not very rich. He was also largely self-educated. Something happened to Abraham Lincoln’s mom when he was only 9 years old. His mom had died of milk sickness. Then, Abraham Lincoln’s dad who was also named Abraham Lincoln had married another woman. Lincoln liked his stepmother better than his father, and they became farther and farther apart.

Like Abraham Lincoln, many other people were abolitionists. An abolitionist is a person who is against slavery. Stopping slavery wasn’t easy; he had to first try to convince people that slavery is bad.

Though his biggest obstacle was the Constitution. In the Emancipation Proclamation, the number slaves Lincoln had freed was limited by the Constitution.

Abraham Lincoln was a great person, and for me, a great hero. He inspires me to do something about life and fix it. Maybe something as horrible as slavery.
