Andrew Jackson was born in Waxhaw, South Carolina in 1767. When he was a young boy he taught himself how to read. Andrew Jackson fought many battles for his country. He was a leader and very determined to get things done that he wanted. He was a lawyer, congressman, and later became President of the United States.
We think he demonstrates the characteristics of a hero because he was determined and he never gave up what he believed in. He was also a leader of others. His home still exists in Nashville, Tennessee at the Hermitage.
