Our Films

My Hero: Assia El Ouadie

Producer: Produced by: Nassima Laouine / Directed by:
I used the internet to learn more and share information about one of the most famous human rights militants in Morocco.I also used music from the net. Thank you.
Oumaima submitted a film about her hero, Ahmed Tayeb Laalej, a Moroccan writer and artist. She is so talented in art as well as in technology. She did research to give his biography, compiled photos, music, technical effects...The poem in the film is her own and she recorded it in audio form (using her voice). She has been so proud of her film and I am so proud of her; I think she deserves to be called 'a hero student'.

The Legend

Producer: Oumaima Bammou
Ahmed Tayeb Laalej is a multi-talented artist.

This is how Oumaima presents her project: "Ahmed TayebLaalej is a famous Moroccan figure. I invite you to discover some details abouthis life, skills, and achievements. I wrote the text ( biography) usingdifferent resources. I chose music from the internet. I wrote a poem and Irecorded my voice (reading the poem). I used different special effects. I hopeyou will enjoy both the content and the techniques. My teacher says she is soproud of the work I have produced. Enjoy. Thank you for giving us thisopportunity to make our culture known and show our talent :) "

Houssam El Fagrouch is fond of sport. He prepared a poster about his hero Badr Hari. I kept his work in the original form: Big poster with pictures and handwritten comments. I will attach the scanned image for a clearer view!

A Group project

Fatima Zahrae, Naima, Badiaa, and Chaimae submitted a group project which was a real surprise to me! As I had given my students ample freedom to choose heroes,(we had some discussion about heroism) but I did not interfere with their choices. What's more, I did not ask them to tell me who they chose! The four girls distributed tasks: Naima interviewed me about myself, pretending to prepare an article to be published in the school magazine (This was ordinary and I did not suspect anything). Fatima Zahrae used her mobile to take pictures from inside the classroom and wrote short comments. Badia wrote a nice poem and Chaimae used a photo from Facebook and made a drawing. When they all presented their work, I was speechless :)

My Last Word

It is certain that The My Hero Project experience hasbeen very enjoyable and enriching for my students and me. As a teacher, Igreatly benefited from the resources and exchange of ideas the website offers;it has also enabled me to know more about my students: their heroes, idols, aspirations; it has also been an opportunity to discover many of their talents:writing, art, technology, that would otherwise have remained unknown!

For my students, this project has been an innovativelearning activity: they have been responsible for their own learning (making decisionsand choosing heroes/ how to present themes; it has offered them a secure andmotivating space to collaborate, exchange ideas locally and globally as well asto freely express themselves; they have been using technology for a variety ofpurposes: connect, gather and organize information. In brief, this project-based activity has been a perfect model of 21st century learningdesign that teachers all over the globe are aspiring for! So, thanks a million!

On behalf of all my students, I would like to thankall the My Hero team members. Special thanks are due to our facilitators Barryand Wendy for making this journey comfortable and successful, and of course, bestwishes to all the teachers and students who have participated in this learningcircle.

Last but not least, I would not miss the opportunityto deeply thank my students/ "heroes"\u009d who have produced excellent work despitetime and curriculum constraints. I am so proud of them  J .

I hope you will enjoy reading our page and discoveringour heroes!
