SPORTS HERO:
DIANA LORENA TAURASI
by Jessica from Connecticut

Star Player (http://za.msnusers.com/DianaTaurasi)

Who is Diana Taurasi exactly? Well, she's my hero. She played for the University of Connecticut (UConn) until she was drafted by the WNBA, the Women's Basketball Association. She now plays for the team in Arizona, the Phoenix Mercury. She has won many awards, such as the College Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year. She is very caring about people in the world and helps many charity organizations. She is a responsible person who loves to play basketball and works very hard to achieve her goals.

Diana Taurasi actually cares about the world. She is involved in many different charities. I have been to some of the charities. Every year I go to Shelton High School to participate in different charities. The charity from this year was to help a little girl named Sydney Barone. Sydney Barone has been diagnosed with a stage five cancer. Diana Taurasi was there to sign autographs and play games. It was fun. I appreciate how she took a couple of hours out of her busy life for a small charity fund.

Warming Up
Diana Taurasi is a great hero for people who enjoy sports. She is a perfect example for those achieving sports goals. Her passion for the game is incredible. She works hard and it pays off. I bet you her family is very proud of her. Think of it this way, she earned a scholarship to the University of Connecticut which is a very advanced school and then was drafted to a WNBA team.

Did you know that Diana Taurasi practices on her own when she doesn't have to? One day I was reading an article on Diana. The article included that she practices on her dribbling and just her dribbling every day for 2 hours. WOW! I complain from dribbling for 10 minutes. It's hard to believe that she dribbles for that long. Her dedication to basketball is amazing. Now you sort of get the idea that the reason she is so good at basketball is that she practices. After all PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT!

So as you can see Diana Taurasi is not just my hero because she is famous. She is my hero because of who she is. The passion that she has for the game is just unbelievable. Diana Taurasi is a very hard working basketball player. She works hard to achieve her goals and that's why she is my hero. When I grow up I want to be just like Diana Taurasi. I just wish I had as much passion for the game as her.
