Mr. Layne
A man who obtains, the many gifts in which all educators should acquire.
One who not only provides guidance, but also is considered a friend.
The teacher, in which his class, you continually look forward to.
A mentor, to those who see him not only in the classroom, but on the pitch.
One, who sets your goals at a superior height, determined you could reach them.
One with so much determination and drive, it only naturally rubs off on others.
Open at all times, cracking jokes or singing songs to suit the moment.
He’s a man of his word, who won’t let you down.
Always giving the girls without the same opportunities a chance.
A coach like no other, you’d think he was a fellow teammate.
He knows when you’re down, and if you are…it’s not for long!
Never afraid to throw on a smile, and his dancing shoes during line dancing.
A lecturer with points and comparisons, that’ll make you think and giggle
Always makes you proud of your school, whether you’re a “Beagle Babe” or a
“Queen Elizabeth Royal”
It’s all about others, and never about himself.
Whether you’re selling donuts or washing rugby balls for a game,
It wont even compare to the energy and time this man puts into this school.
His station wagon and creaky office chair just prove that…
The materialistic world is definitely not a priority in his hectic life.
Healthy and fit, he’d probably whip my butt in a run.
His warmth and humor make him easily approachable.
His emotionally hard exterior may be deceiving…
But he’s not trying to be tough on you; he just wants to see you succeed.
(It took me five years to figure that one out.)
This poem is a token of my appreciation, and never ending
gratitude for all the opportunities and unforgettable
memories you have given me.
Which I will forever, carry with me.
You truly are my mentor
Sincerely Laura Verdiel
