KOVIC AWARD FINALISTS
CELEBRATING FILMS FOR PEACE

MY HERO is pleased to announce the RON KOVIC PEACE AWARD for a short film and work of art that celebrates peace and those around the world working for non-violence and an end to war.

Ron Kovic is a Vietnam veteran, former Marine Corps sergeant and author of Born on the 4th of July. Mr. Kovic along with Oliver Stone was the co-screenwriter of the film BORN ON THE 4th of JULY released in December 1989. This Academy Award-winning motion picture starring Tom Cruise is based on the life of Ron Kovic. Mr. Kovic served two tours of duty during the Vietnam War. He was paralyzed from his chest down in combat in Vietnam on Jan. 20, 1968. He has been paralyzed and in a wheelchair ever since. Mr. Kovic is an accomplished author and painter. He has been working for peace for over three decades.

MY HERO is pleased to annouce that Ron Kovic will be giving a PEACEMAKER award at this years SHORT FILM FESTIVAL. All are invited to submit short films ten minutes or under honoring those working for peace around the world. Films can be excerpts from longer works, or short films made by students, professionals and enthusiasts.

The deadline for submitting short films for this years RON KOVIC PEACEMAKER AWARD is November 1, 2008 For more information visit the MY HERO FILM FESTIVAL.
