Jerome Abram Bettis

by Ethan from Poquoson

"We don't have to be as good as we were last year, ... It doesn't matter if we're 15-1 again - if we're 10-6 but we win the Super Bowl, that's a better season."

Did you know that Jerome Bettis has his own charity? It's called The Bus Stops Here and it helps underprivileged children by offering them opportunities to succeed in life and jobs. Jerome Bettis is my hero because he helps the community. He played football and was awesome at it. Jerome Bettis never gives up at what he is doing.

Jerome Bettis was not a quitter because whenever he had a hard time getting through linemen, he tried harder the next down. This relates to him in the real world, also. He was diagnosed with asthma at age 15. Later in his life the asthma would bother him and Jerome would just push through it. He also helps a foundation called Athletes With Asthma.

Jerome Bettis was an extraordinary athlete. He was on a team with five super bowl wins. The year after he retired, his team won the super bowl again. When he retired he had a total of 13,662 rushing yards and 94 touchdowns and an average of 3.9 yards a down. Jerome Bettis weighed in at 250 pounds and was 5 11” at the peak of his career. He won one super bowl when he was playing for the Steelers and did not win any when he played for the Rams.

Mr.Bettis is a very kind and considerate man. He also gave back to the community by his charity work. His first charity is called The Bus Stops Here and it helps under privileged children by offering the opportunities to help them succeed in life. His second charity is named Athletes with Asthma and it helps to encourage kids to understand how important asthma is and how to take care of yourself when involved in a sport.

Jerome Bettis is important to me because he is my hero. He gives back to the community, he is a great football player, and he never gives up at what he is doing. Jerome made a difference in my life when I heard that he had asthma and was still making a difference in the outcome of the game. I have learned from research that Jerome Bettis was involved in many charities like The Bus Stops Here and Athletes With Asthma. Jerome Bettis is a good example of a true hero.
