My hero's name is Clara Hughes. She was born Sept 27, 1972. Clara Hughes was born in Winnipeg Manitoba and she loved math. Clara wanted to skate any type of skating, she loved watching skaters on TV. Little did she imagine that in pursuing her speed skating dream, she would also compete in two Summer Olympic Games, in the sport of cycling. Her dream was to become a speed skater. "Clara Hughes is the only athlete in history to win multiple medals in Winter and Summer Olympics."

Clara Hughes is an Olympic hero. She challenges herself to be a speed skater. She helps people all over the world to speed skate well. She always gets a lot of support from Thailand because she looks after kids in Thailand.

Clara Hughes is a big story in Canadian history. She is a speed skater and a biker. She is a double Olympic bronze medalist in the 1996 summer Olympic Games in biking and at the 2002 Olympic winter games in skating. Clara Hughes is the only Canadian that has ever won medals in winter and summer Olympics.
