Harrison Ford

The hero that I have chosen for my hero report is Harrison Ford. What he does for a living is making and sometimes producing movies. When I first saw this actor I saw him in a movie called Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark. I then started seeing him in other movies. I thought he was a very professional and unique actor.

My hero had a very difficult childhood. His mom was Jewish and his dad was Catholic. So you might think he would grow up confused, but he didn’t. One time Paparazzi tried to ask him if he was more of a Catholic or more of a Jew he replied saying, “I’m a democrat.” When he was in high school he became very distracted in other things instead of school. His highest grade in high school at one point was a C. With these bad habits he eventually dropped out of high school. What helped him become what he is today was the experience he obtained when he entered drama school.

After he graduated drama school he started acting in minor parts in movies, still nobody knew who Harrison Ford was. Then in 1973 he was finally recognized in a film called American Graffiti, it was directed by George Lucas. Then in 1977 he became famous almost overnight, when Star Wars Episode IV A New Hope came out. After the Star Wars trilogy was over he went on to do other action filled movies such as the Indiana Jones series, Air force One, Witness, Clear and Present Danger and Extraordinary Measures which continued to give him even more exposure and popularity.

My hero Harrison Ford has three homes in the USA. He lives in California, Wyoming, and New York. His original home was in Wyoming where he was born and raised. I learned that in California he lived in a condo until 2006. Harrison moved into a huge mansion right in San Luis Obispo. My hero Harrison Ford is fortunately still living and making movies. Once every so often he goes to one of his three homes and relaxes there until he is called to do more movies. He has been divorced two times and remarried early last year in New Mexico, when he was finishing his latest movie Cowboys and Aliens. Some of his favorite hobbies are reading and flying planes. Harrison owns many planes, at least more than ten.

I think Ford is dynamic actor, because of his acting abilities, I truly enjoy the movie more, I also understand the hidden lessons in his movies. In this aspect I think he is very unique actor because he attracts a lot of people of all ages including me. I’ve seen many actors in movies that are great, but just don’t have the characteristics that Ford has. I also chose him because according to my research he is a vice chairman of an organization that helps save Rain Forests. He wants to save forests before they get cut down and destroyed. That is another reason why I chose Ford as my hero. He cares about his environment and is actively doing something about it. In addition to his charity works with the rain forests, a few days after the 7.0 earthquake of Haiti, Harrison Ford actually went to Haiti to personally help the people who were buried. He assisted those who were injured in the ruins. Numerous actors, once they gain popularity and notoriety, forget to give back to the less fortunate. Harrison Ford, in a discreet way, is very involved in bettering the environment and assisting those in need. He enjoys giving back to his community and the whole world. I am very glad I chose Harrison Ford as my hero because he has done many exciting things as well as shown compassion and responsible caring attitude towards the less fortunate.
