Heroes are the people who take time to fight not only for themselves but others. Eliezer Wiesel is the person I believe did this for him and others like him. Eliezer is a good person in every way.
When he was young his life revolved around religion; he even studied the Torah, which has five books and is part of the Hebrew Bible. But then things changed for Elie when the Gestapo came and forced him and the people in his town into cattle cars. After the long ride in the cattle car he was tired, weak, and starving. Eventually, they reached Birkenau, which was the gateway to Auschwitz. If I was there I don’t know if I could do that. I honestly think I would cry the whole way there.
Another horrible thing that the Gestapo did was they burned babies in furnaces by the truckload. That’s just so wrong and hard to watch. Eliezer Wiesel had to endure this every day he was there. As soon as they arrived the Jews were stripped, shaved, disinfected, and then beaten. He was put into a factory and he was treated like a slave. Later on someone found out that Elie had a gold tooth so they took a spoon and pried it out of his mouth. At random there were hangings and the prisoners like Elie were forced to watch them die in the courtyards.

After a while in this madness Elie started losing his mind. He started to give up on other people like his father and even God. There was a death march to Gleiwitz, which was over fifty miles. Soon after his father died of dysentery and physical abuse. Then Elie was liberated in April 11, 1945.
Eliezer Wiesel is a very strong person and that is why he is my hero. He has seen so much and handled it so well. I think that he has made a difference in the world letting everyone know about the Holocaust. Some of the books that Elie has written are Night, Dawn, and All Rivers Run to the sea: Memoirs. He told everyone about the horrific things that had happened there at the concentration camp. It must have been hard to lose most of his family too. Not having his parents after all that probably made him have a sense of being alone, but he manages to work through that and become someone who people admire.
