Here's a compilation of entries from our guestbook. Each is a special hero to our visitors from around the world.

Rachel Alcone from Laguna Beach, CA

My hero is mother. I admire her for a lot of reasons. These are a few reasons why..... she is sweet, kind and generous. She is loving, honest and honorable. She puts others before her so that she doesn't exclude anyone. But the reason she is my hero is because when her sister was dying she was very strong and willing . She took care of two families, her sister's and her own. Then when her sister died she helped them . She would buy their groceries, make their meals, etc. If these are not hero qualities I don't know what are.
Kristin Henry -
My hero is my Mommy.... My hero is my wonderful, sweet mommy. She is my hero because when I was four years old I had Lyme disease. My mom helped me get healthier by getting me medicine and making me stay in bed all day. She kept telling me to go to sleep so I would get better. I'm glad my mom is a nurse so she can make my sister better if she ever gets bitten by a tick and catches Lyme disease. Also my mom is my hero because she can help others get better if they catch something very bad. My mom is beautiful with dark brown, wavy hair and big brown eyes. My mom is kind, caring and loving in many different ways to everyone.
Mike Stacy from Ventura, CA
My mother is my hero because she tolerates all of us (her family), and teaches us to love each other. She also supports each of us equally and without boundaries. She is the fairest of them all...even when certain circumstances outside of the family realm are being weighed against the family core...she doesn't waiver, or favor the family's needs to that of what is right and just...she is respected by all who are touched by her.
Liz Barlow from Nibley, Utah
My hero is her mom. She helps me feel better when I am sad, lonely, sick or mad. She shows me love all the time. She is helping me grow up into a person I can respect. I love her!
Crystal Spence from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
My mom is my hero because she takes good care of me and my brother. She also looks out for me. The special thing about her is I know that she loves me.
Meg Young from Lewiston, Michigan
my hero is my mom, who also happens to be my best friend. My father got sick when I was very young, and she nursed him all the way through his illness. She treated him with love and the utmost respect, and she always expressed how proud she was of him for being so brave. When I was 9, my father died of cancer. My mother single handedly raised my brother and I after that. Even though money was extremely tight, we always had fun and she was always there to talk to when I needed her. She is smart, loving, caring, kind, and my best friend in the whole world. She did without so that we could have the things we dreamed about. Well, we are both adults now, and leading very productive lives. I believe we are who we are today because of this wonderful woman. Now, I have 2 young daughters, and it makes me appreciate even more who my mom is and what she sacrificed for us. There is no way I could be the kind of mom she was and still is. There aren't words to express the love I feel in my heart for this beautiful woman. She is my hero for all these reasons, but there are too many more reasons to mention. If I am half that lovely a person in my lifetime, I will feel like I have accomplished a great deed.
Ashley P. from Oakland, CA USA
My hero is my mother because she is noble, admirable, excellent, lovely, and true. My mother is my hero because she supports me and she listens to me when I talk. My mother knows all my secrets and I can always count on her. I am lucky to have her.
Melissa from New London, Conn.
My mother is my hero because she is my mother and father. My parents have been divorced for almost eleven years. My mother was the one to teach me values, morals and my beliefs. She stood by me throughout the toughest times in my life. I love her for that. That is why she is my hero...
Josie Hauer from Seymour, Conn. USA
My hero is my Mom. My mother continues to be a warm, charming, ever-patient, loving, kind person who serves and cares for her neighbors, children and grandchildren. She has worked hard all her life in humble jobs so that her children can inherit a small amount of money. That money represents many hours of labor and true love -- love that perseveres through difficulty so that others may benefit. I admire my mom.
Katherine Silver from Austin, Texa:
My hero is my mommy, Marsha Silver. Because I like to help her cook and she plays with me and helps me read and tells me what big words are. And because we love each other.
Robin Fiske from Napa, Ca
My hero is my mom. I call her my Odi. She is always there for my sister,my brother and I.when she went into treatment 9 years ago, she missed my fifth birthday, because she was trying to make herself a better mom, friend, sister, daughter, lover, and an all around better person. A couple of years ago, she went back to school, while working full time as well as being a full time mom. She'll punish us, but not to be mean, but, to teach us a lesson. I some times think that the punishments that we get are way harsh but,I know that it is for my own good.My mom is the best influence on me. she has taught me so much about myself and about what is right and wrong. She now works at a detoxifaction center, the same one that she went to. Because of my mom, I now believe that I will always have a sholder to cry on, a person to talk to, a best friend, and, a mom. I know that I am fortunate to have this and I am thankful for this every day.I love my mom with all of my heart. Other people that have gotten to know her usually feel the same way about her. She is the kind of person that is very easy to talk to.
Chantel L. Novak from Nineveh, Indiana
My hero is my Mother. My mother has had many struggles in her life time. She got through every single one of them. She is very smart, and a very caring person. If it weren't for my mother, I would not be here today. I love spending time with her. She is a great mother and friend.
Alison Manns from Asheville, North Carolina
My hero is my MOM. My mom sticks her head out for things that she thinks are right even if it would cost her,her job. But most of all why she's my hero is because shes a great mom, shes a great cook, and she loves me.

My hero is my mother, Joyce. Despite a great many health problems, Joyce still remains ashappy as her children remember her when she was younger and in perfect health. Mother dear, may you have still many more happy and pain free years. Much love Neil, Susan, David, Amy and Charles.
