It provides visitors with a rich resource of stories to explore themes such as AIDS Awareness Day, World Earth Day, International Day of the Child, International Day of Peace and Tolerance, and other national and international events.   People of all ages write brief entries in the interactive Guestbook to honor scientists, artists, environmentalists, peacemakers, lifesavers, friends, family and other heroes. Guestbook entries are posted “live” on the Web site. Occasionally, entries are placed in a “holding tank” to be reviewed and activated by the MY HERO staff. The Guestbook search engine enables guests to locate their entries to share with friends and family.

Create a MY HERO Webpage>>>> myhero.com/create

The Create Program is a Web authoring tool designed to be applied across interdisciplinary school curriculums and in after-school, vocational, library, and senior programs to build critical thinking, reading, writing and computer literacy skills. The user-friendly template allows visitors to design Web pages with text, images and links to honor their heroes. Work is stored on the MY HERO server while under construction, so students can complete their Web page over a period of time at school, in the library, or at home. Once stories are submitted, the MY HERO staff reviews and edits the text before launching the stories live on the Web site. Students of all ages from around the world become reporters for MY HERO and write about the people who have made a difference in their communities. Authors of stories that are “featured” on the Web site are awarded T-Shirt prizes.
